(19+)All proceeds go towards the 2011 Harlow Theatre Class:The centre piece of the Theatre Program at Grenfell since its inception is the extended trip to Memorial University's campus in Harlow, England. Currently, the trip occurs in the second semester of fourth year and is anywhere from six to eight weeks in duration. While resident in Harlow, our students take courses from British theatre professionals, visit museums and galleries, travel throughout Europe and, of course, see all manner of world class theatre - everything from Shakespeare at the Royal Shakespeare Company to leading contemporary productions at the Royal National Theatre, opera, ballet and cutting edge fringe productions. The Harlow trip is a compulsory component of the program and, in that regard, is a feature both unique and exciting about our theatre program. Many of our graduates claim that the time they spent in Harlow was both life-affirming and life altering.
Performances by:Samantha Chaulk - started playing guitar and writing songs a little more than a year ago. She combined her love for theatre and music by writing tunes for songs from Twelfth Night, and plans to continue writing music to Shakespeare's words. She is currently a third year theatre-acting student in the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College-Memorial Univeristy Fine Arts Program and is a part of the class that will be travelling to Harlow in 2011. Three cheers for public domain!
The Dave Peddle Band - A bluesy roots groove, jamming out with all original tunes -- high energy emphasis on lyrics and rhythm.
DJ Dain (Andrew Bowers) - an award-winning composer, producer and DJ specializing in Drum 'n' Bass, Trip-Hop, and Mash-ups. He mixes sets that sound like 2manyDJs hijacked one of Dr. Dre's samplers that's being haunted by the ghost of Frank Zappa, while his original works sound more akin to Massive Attack masturbating to a porn directed by Portishead, staring Rob Dougan and Amy Lee. He has the uncanny ability to listen to one song and hear five others. If you're looking for a performance DJ who brings the creative energy of a rock-star, he's your man.
