What do you get when you combine a cheesy 90's Classic House track with the vocal from a modern rap single? Something like this I suppose. Rap vocals always sound better over four-on-th-floor beats to me.
Kickin' it Old-Skool with this one. A little digging around (and a lot of chopping and reediting) paid off. I managed to get the two vocal tracks to complement each other with alternating verses/choruses. Thank goodness I had a long version of that Hasim track!
Yet another Daft Punk mash-up - but this time its a special remix exclusive to the Japanese release of "Daft Club." Dominique Torti's Wildstyle edit incorporates some funky beat-repeating effects that flow very well with the scat-like vocal renditions that pepper Basement Jaxx's "Do Your Thing." It's fun and funky without being too intense either - just a nice light-hearted groove throughout.
...and we're back! Sorry for the extended delay - I've been quite busy overseas at Harlow studying (and sightseeing, partying and shopping too), but I'm back on the island and ready to rock again! I figured this track would be a good way to kick off another semester. Dada Life's remix of the classic mash-up dance hit "Doctorin' the Tardis" has a great club-stomping beat and bass-line to it, but it felt it still needed a catchy vocal hook. Thankfully artists like Flo-Rida and Pitbull seem to be producing catchy club hits on mass. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about their original track sampling Benni Benassi's "Satisfaction," considering that old track has arguably become the new "Children" by Robert Miles - but that's a discussion for another day.
Remember to revisit this blog every Monday for new mash-ups!
